Yesterday marked the deaths of two young rising stars in the rap game. The shooting death of XXXTentacion has drawn a significant amount of attention, as fans and fellow artists mourn their loss. The tragic death of Pittsburgh rapper Jimmy Wopo, while having received less coverage, is no less upsetting. Even more so, now that it's been revealed that he had some big news to share before his death.
Fellow Pittsburgh rapper Chevy Woods went to Twitter last night, following the news of Wopo's death. He posted a picture of Wopo, and added a message of mourning to the tweet.
"Just thinking like damn lil cuz we ainβt even get to tell the world the big news ... Gang ππ½ π€π½ @jimmywopo_."
While Chevy doesn't mention the news in specifics, it's pretty obvious what it was. The picture shows Wopo, sitting on a stoop and wearing a Taylor Gang t-shirt, the same label that Chevy Woods is signed to. Fellow Taylor Gang member Sledgren also tweeted similar news, but this picture is the clearest confirmation yet that Wopo was bound for greater things. Already one of Pittsburgh's breakout artists, Wopo had a full life and career ahead of him.
Chevy's condolences join a cavalry of supporters and artists who have paid their respects to the late rapper. Similar to the other rapper death's we've endured this year, Wopo found himself a victim to forces of drugs or violence, and a life that was difficult to escape from.
