The Beats 1 Radio platform has been a useful tool for artists to express themselves and to premiere new music. The amount of artists that Drake has boosted on his "OVO Sound Radio" program has been unreal. Now, the newest member of the Beats 1 Radio family has been revealed: fashion designer and DJ, Virgil Abloh.
The show, which was announced in Vogue magazine, will be titled "Televised Radio," and will be recorded in the Louis Vuitton atelier in Paris, France. If that doesn't already sound like the boujee-est thing you've ever heard, the program will apparently be an "audio mood board" for Abloh, with new music, classical hits, as well as interviews with special guests.
Abloh has been keeping himself extremely busy lately, releasing new pieces and collaborations for his street wear brand, Off-White, while simultaneously working on his first menswear collection for famed fashion house Louis Vuitton. He's also found time to DJ, design furniture for Ikea, and now produce his own radio show.
Apple Music's Head of Content Larry Jackson says that Abloh is the perfect person for Apple to partner with. "As fashion shifts its point of view, embracing the influence of hip-hop culture, we felt that the time was right for Virgil to present a larger story through an exclusive Beats 1 show on Apple Music, which offers a glimpse into his design studio and the musical references driving the debut of his new collection next week, plus his other prolific work," says Jackson. "In my opinion, there’s no better contemporary designer and creator to partner with."
The show premieres today, and will supposedly contain some exciting news for its first episode.
