Cardi B has seen her career rise from being a Love & Hip Hop cast member to one of the biggest musical acts in the world. Detailing the exact opposite of what J. Cole says at the end of his K.O.D. outro "1985," Cardi has a lot to celebrate this year. The success of her debut album has crossed genres to amaze casual music fans, as well as her diehard Bardi Gang members. On the other side of things, it was reported yesterday that the starlet was being sued by her ex-manager for a breach of their contract, as Shaft asks for $10 million in damages.
Saying that he and his team are the reason why "Bodak Yellow" was such a big hit, details have broken out about the alleged mistreatment on Shaft's side of the business relationship. TMZ reports that her ex-manager would hide details of how much money she was making per booking, pocketing as much as half of her pay at times. On top of this, Cardi was allegedly paying him a 20% cut, which Offset was upset by when he heard about it as this is higher than an average manager's cut. The publication clarified that if Cardi was set to make $100K per show, Shaft would pocket $50K and hide the difference from her.
With Cardi now signed onto a management deal with her fiance's home team of Quality Control, it is likely that we will hear of no further issues in terms of mistreatment of her contract as they have taken good care of grooming their acts into stars. We will keep you updated on the legal proceedings going forward.
