The production will find a way to compensate for the offense.

Pete Davidson made yet another joke that was frowned upon during Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update." He made fun of an army veteran turned politician who currently wears an eye patch after being injured by an explosive device.  Davidson tried to turn this wound into a zinger, which garnered a lot of criticism.

Kenan Thompson was asked about the situation during an interview on The View. He agreed that using this part of the Navy Seal's narrative as a joke "missed the mark" while stating that Pete is still a "good kid."

“I know it’s being handled internally, and it’s not really my department but since I’m out promoting The Grinch I get to answer these questions,” Thompson said, replying to a question from Meghan McCain. “They’re figuring out a way to right that wrong, I’m pretty sure...It’s not our intention to disrespect anyone. Our whole thing is to just be artists and hold up a mirror.”

Here's the infamous joke Pete told:

"You may be surprised to hear he’s a congressional candidate in Texas and not a hitman in a porno movie. I’m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever.”

Dan Crenshaw, the army vet in question, had addressed the joke on social media.

"Good rule in life: I try hard not to offend; I try harder not to be offended," he tweeted. "That being said,  I hope [SNL] recognizes that vets don’t deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes."
