Joel Embiid's night ended in a hospital bed and the only update he has provided thus far is "not good."
Embiid collided with rookie point guard Markelle Fultz during the second quarter of last night's victory over the New York Knicks, and was taken to the hospital after going through the concussion protocol. According to ESPN, preliminary x-rays revealed no fractures but it's still unclear when the All-Star center will be back in the lineup.
"I know I hit him, but I believe he is OK,'' Fultz said, per ESPN. "My heart dropped. He's a tough guy. All I can do is pray for him.''
Fultz, who just recently returned to the lineup after missing 68 games, accidentally head-butted Embiid on a drive to the basket and the 7-footer immediately went to the floor. He stay down for a few minutes until a Sixers' trainer helped him off the court and into the locker room.
Embiid is the Sixers' leader in points, rebounds and blocks, averaging 22.9 points, 11 boards and 1.8 blocks per game. Philly is currently sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 44-30, and they're just a half-game behind the third place Cleveland Cavaliers.
