The Jacksonville Jaguars have suspended Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey and defensive end Dante Fowler for a week "for violating team rules and conduct unbecoming of a Jaguars football player," according to a statement from the Jaguars. The suspension will be served during the pre-season.
Fowler was involved in a post-practice altercation with fellow defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, while Ramsey earned his week off for a profane rant aimed at the media who filmed the incident. According to ESPN, Fowler and Ngakoue had to be separated by teammates twice after practice on Sunday, though no punches were thrown. ESPN also reports that Ramsey yelled at reporters, "stop recording that shit, man!"
Ramsey later took to twitter to call out some reporters, including Phillip Heilman of the Florida Times-Union. The tweet directed at Heilman reads, "you know you done messed up right? Lol if y’all want war, we got sum for y’all. & Iknow the rest of y’all (you know who you are) gone read this too so just know #LameAssReporters."
Ramsey later tweeted, "I’m always gone take up for my teammates kus I know what type of men and players they are forreal! Love my dawgs! If you don’t like it, oh well. God bless."
Both players will miss the Jaguars' second pre-season game on Saturday, when they take on the Minnesota Vikings. Fowler will also miss the regular season opener against the New York Giants as punishment for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, which stemmed from his July 2017 arrest, according to ESPN.
