Almost every American with a cell phone received a text message today at 2:18 PM ET as part of a test for FEMA’s Wireless Emergency Alerts System. The "Presidential Alert" required no action at all and the notification produced a lot of hilarious reactions from celebrities and Twitter users alike who laughed at the "you up" type text.
"DEADASS LOSE MY NUMBER BRO @realDonaldTrump," Joey Bada$$ tweeted, while American Horror Story actor Clea Duvall added, "This is the most unwelcome thing I’ve received on my phone since that U2 album."
The alert only lasted around one-minute long and "in the future, the President of the United States will have sole responsibility for determining when the national-level Emergency Alert System will be activated, but FEMA will be responsible for tests and exercises of the system," TIME reports.
