Derrick Rose has seen his ups and downs. It's been over seven years since Rose won the league MVP, and his adventures in the NBA since then have been character building experiences. After injuries hampered Rose's play, he was sent from the Chicago Bulls over to the New York Knicks. His time with the Knicks was brief, and Rose soon found himself on the Minnesota Timberwolves. It appeared that the Rose of 2011 was long gone, but on Halloween, the dread-headed athlete went Super Saiyan.
Rose scored 50 points against the Utah Jazz, leading his team to a three-point victory. According to ESPN, Rose sunk the go-ahead basket with 30 seconds left. He then dropped free throws with 13.8 seconds left to reach the 50-point mark. The performance marks a career high for Rose. His peers took to social media after the riveting performance to praise the man who many thought would never have a night like this. "So extremely HAPPY AND PROUD of you bro," wrote LeBron James in an Instagram post. "I seen it first hand how much you worked and dedicated on your body, craft, mind, etc etc just to play 1 game at a time!"
"D🌹!!! Incredible. He’s overcome so much," tweeted NBA legend Scottie Pippen. Dwyane Wade, Steph Curry, Chris Paul, Vince Carter, Jason Terry, and a long list of others echoed the praise.
