Lil Wayne is coming off the release of his long awaited album Tha Carter V, which has ben getting plenty of rave reviews and high praise since its release last week. In fact, C5 is doing so well that it’s set to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart next week, projecting to sell nearly 475-525k units in its opening week. Looking to promote the project & keeping the momentum going, Tunechi made his way by the NBC studios Tuesday afternoon and served as the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Backed by live instrumentals from The Roots, Tunechi took the stage to perform his new song “Dedicate” live for the very first time while rockin’ a fanny pack and icy jewelry. The song happens to sample both 2 Chainz’s “Dedication,” which is itself an ode to Wayne, and President Barack Obama’s 2009 speech, in which he stated: "Our kids can’t all aspire to be LeBron or Lil Wayne!”
In addition to the performance, Tunechi also sat down with Fallon, and admitted that he's still trying to study and memorize his album lyrics since he doesn't write them down when recording (see clip below).
