Donald and Stephen Glover's animated Deadpool series for FX is no longer happening, according to Variety. The network has announced that the show, which was conceived as being written, executive-produced and showrun by the Glovers, will no longer air as planned.
"Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel's Deadpool animated series, FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership on Legion, which will continue," reads the statement.
According to the report, the show was not in active production, and it is not believed that any scripts were delivered, despite the show being scheduled to air in 2018. The team behind FXX's Archer was on board to animate the series.
The network has not stated what delayed production on the series, but Donald Glover's large number of ongoing projects seems a likely factor. Donald and Steven are both heavily involved in their FX show Atlanta, of which season 2 is currently airing. Meanwhile, Glover has appeared in 2017's Spiderman: Homecoming, and the upcoming films Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Lion King. Not to mention his music career as Childish Gambino. He'll be taking the act on tour with Rae Sremmurd this summer.
Marvel can still potentially shop the series to a different network, but either way, Glover is out.
