The video drop for Anderson .Paak's collaboration with Kendrick Lamar only adds to the excitement for his Oxnard release, several months in the making. They even got the elusive Dr. Dre for a cameo role in the video, which in itself adds an element of charm to the project it likely never needed. When "TINTS" it was a breath of fresh air especially for those of us with a rap-centric desk job, boohoo. Paak was finally delivering at a welcome midtempo -- Kendric, as infallible as he may seem to the naked eye, did prove he rise to the occasion without an "erky jerky" rhyme scheme less predicated on melody.
The "TINTS" video directed by Colin Tilley is a little hard to summarize. There are at least a dozen different narratives operating at once, and the characters played by Dre, Paak, Kendrick, and company switch positions at will. If you ever wanted to see Anderson .Paak moonwalk the slippery floor of a delicatessen, here's your chance.
Oxnard drops November 16.
