Earlier this weekend, Dr. Dre let it slip that Anderson .Paak's new album will be titled Oxnard Ventura. In a video captured by Reddit's hiphopheads, the good doctor proclaims, "Real artist. Real musicianship. Shit is crazy. Check his album, it's coming out soon, 'Oxnard Ventura.'" Anderson .Paak laughs in shock before ending the video, leading fans to believe that Dre was telling the truth. The name Oxnard Ventura thematically fits with .Paak's penchant of naming his projects after places in Los Angeles.
.Paak released a new single earlier this month titled "Bubblin.'" The new track, which will most likely be featured on Oxnard Ventura, is produced by Jhalil Beats and Antman Wonder. The duo crafted a hard-hitting and energetic single, but as fans of .Paak know, his albums usually carry an eclectic range of sounds. Some fans on Twitter asked .Paak if he could get Thundercat on one of his new tracks, to which .Paak responded that he already has.
Thundercat won a Grammy for his work on Kendrick Lamar's "These Walls" off the To Pimp A Butterfly album. He is a bass player, singer, songwriter, and producer. His jazz-influenced style would mesh well with .Paak's raspy crooning, and so it's no surprise fans expressed their support for a collaboration song. It looks like .Paak is one step ahead of the game.
