Lil Xan has been doing himself no favors. Where breakout single "Betrayed" found the rapper, at the very least, employing a serviceable flow. Now, it seems as if he's simply going through the motions, whatever said motions may be. On one hand, the rapper is somewhat of a tragic figure, having been deemed hip-hop's public enemy through a damn-near-unanimous vote. Yet Xan's "Slope" finds the rapper reaching new lows.
It's clear he's not even trying at this point, simply hoping to capitalize off his name. The video follows suit, showing little to no innovation, relying on lo-fi camera tricks to hide the blemishes. The song finds Xan repeating a mush-mouthed refrain of "fuhdaho," coming to epitomize the oft-misused term "mumble rap." The man is literally mumbling; it's the "rapping" that remains arguable in this context. Lil Xan, please do better. At the very least, respect your craft, and actually put in the effort.
