The Washington Capitals are Stanley Cup champions for the first time in the team's 44-year history, after disposing of the Las Vegas Golden Knights in last night's Game 5 by the final of 4-3. The championship is the first by a Washington professional sports team in the NFL, NBA, NHL or MLB since the Redskins won the Super Bowl back in 1992.
In celebration of Alex Ovechkin, T.J. Oshie and the rest of the Stanley Cup-winning Caps, Adidas launched a special edition sneaker featuring the team's red, white & blue color scheme. The Adidas AM4NHL features the Washington Capitals' logo on the medial side, as well as smaller team logos and NHL logos on the heel patch.
A limited supply of the sneakers launched last night for $200 via Adidas.com right after the Caps were awarded the cup. The shoes are still available for pre-order through Adidas' website in sizes ranging from 4-13. The shoes will reportedly launch on June 21.
