Kevin Love will be out for the next 6-8 weeks after breaking a bone in his left hand.

As if the Cleveland Cavaliers weren’t already dealing with some major issues among their team, having lost 10 out of last 15 games, starting forward/center Kevin Love is now expected to miss the next 6-8 weeks with a broken left hand according to ESPN & various reports.

The injury occurred during the first quarter of Tuesday night’s game against the Pistons when he made contact with Detroit’s center Andre Drummond under the basket. Love could be seen grabbing his hand and bending over in physical pain immediately following the play.

Having gone to the locker room, the Cavs said Love received X-rays which revealed a non-displaced fracture in his left hand fifth metacarpal, and they would update his status after additional examination and consultation tomorrow (Wednesday) in Cleveland.

For what it’s worth, Love underwent surgery on the same hand back in 2009, which required three screws to be inserted into his hand.

Tuesday's hand injury will put Love's availability for the All-Star game next month in jeopardy. Last season, Love was forced to miss the All-Star game after undergoing minor knee surgery on Feb. 14. So unfortunately for Love, he might miss back to back All-Star games.

Love is third All-Star in as many days to get seriously injured, following Boogie Cousins’ season-ending achilles tear & John Wall’s knee surgery. In addition, Grizzlies point guard Michael Conley Jr. also had his season ended early the other day after battling an Achilles injury himself.
