During her appearance on The LOST Boys podcast, actress Evangeline Lilly recounted negative experiences she underwent while filming Lost. Lilly has in the past, lodged complaints about the showrunners she worked under, but for the first time ever, a recollection of her mistreatment has coming to light. Lilly recalled an instance during Season 3 in which she felt she was cornered into shooting her scene with partial nudity. "I was mortified and I was trembling, and when it finished, I was crying my eyes out and I had to go and do a very formidable, very strong scene immediately thereafter," described Lilly of her emotional state, before-during-&-after the scene was shot.
The very next season, showrunners blindsided her quite similarly, this time her character "Kate" was asked to undress during a sequence which quite deliberately eschewed dialogue or plot development. Lost co-creators JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof issued a joint statement expressing regret over their conduct but have yet to reach her personally.
The statement reads: "Our response to Evie’s comments this morning in the media was to immediately reach out to her to profoundly apologize for the experience she detailed while working on Lost. We have not yet connected with her, but remain deeply and sincerely sorry. No person should ever feel unsafe at work. Period."
