In 2016, HNHH launched one Spotify playlist to rule them all: FIRE EMOJI: The Hottest Hip Hop Songs Right Now.
The playlist is updated regularly and is representative of the best new releases in hip hop and R&B, or at least those that make it to Spotify.
2017 might be running on fumes, but December was one of the strongest months of long-form releases we've had overall this year. Many big names presented fans with some delightful holiday gifts, none the least of whom were Travis Scott and Quavo, who finally dropped their much-anticipated collab, Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho. With some certified banger material like "Saint" and "Eye 2 Eye," the two rappers combined for a strong effort that helped wrap up hip-hop's excellent year on a high note.
Speaking of Quavo, he and the rest of his Quality Control co-horts also had an outstanding December following the release of the brand's Control The Streets, Vol. 1 compilation album. Featuring the likes of Offset, Cardi B, Lil Yachty and more on the cuts, the ATL scene was well-represented this holiday season. Cardi did them all one better, dropping "Bartier Cardi" as her follow-up to her hit single "Bodak Yellow," sending her vast social media following into a frenzy as a result.
Finally, you have two giants in the rap world - Gucci Mane and Big Sean - cap off tremendously successful years with one more long-form release each. For Guwop, it was El Gato The Human Glaicer, featuring an album cover that is, without a doubt, the iciest he's ever been. For the Detroit native Sean, he and Metro Boomin' combined for Double or Nothing, an LP full of songs that will get anyone hyped this New Year's Eve. Sit back, relax, and let the Fire Emoji playlist be the soundtrack to your 2018 countdown celebration!
Our current playlist contains songs from these projects as well as many others that were bumping throughout the month of November, along with some additional releases from back in September that are still very much a part of the conversation in the hip-hop community.
