Brooklyn's own Ace Clark has teamed up with two local homies, hip-hop mainstays Talib Kweli and Joell Ortiz, to deliver "Signs" to the masses. Stemming from Clark's upcoming Black Privilege album, which clearly draws inspiration from Charlamagne Tha God's bestseller of the same name, "Signs" finds all three rappers sliding over soulful production implementing Clark's own pitch corrected vocals.
Setting things off over an understated horn loop, Talib drops some knowledge while kicking melodic lines not unlike his vintage Quality album. Clark holds it down in the middle section, keeping things simple, remaining poignant without preaching. Ortiz closes it out a dexterous verse, paying homage to hip-hop and proving once again why he was welcomed into Slaughterhouse with open arms.
Keep an eye out for Clark's new album, set to drop on September 14th; if you like this one, rest assured there will be more where that came from, with features from Beanie Sigel, Skyzoo, Fashawn and more.
Quotable Lyrics
Thank you for taking me under your wing
Making me one of your kings,
I'm as humble as a bumblebee in spring
But try to come for my honey I sting
