Tonight the NBA on TNT crew will reveal the All-Star reserves during a special hour-long show prior to the double-header. However, some of that information has already leaked and it surely won't be the last before the show kicks off at 7pm ET.
According to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post, Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal will be named as one of the Eastern Conference's seven All Star reserves. It will be the first time Beal has made the All Star team.
Additionally, Buckner reports that Beal will be among the participants in the Three-Point Shootout. The 24-year old guard competed in the shooting competition once before back in 2014, and finished second behind Marco Belinelli. In 47 games this season, Beal is averaging 23.6 points per game but his three point percentage, 36.8%, is the worst of his career so far.
No matter what the outcome of tonight's official All-Star announcement, Beal explained why he's looking forward to it either way.
"It's exciting if I am [selected]," he said Monday, per Buckner (h/t Bleacher Report). "If I'm not, it's exciting because that means I get to go on vacation for a little bit. So, it's a win-win for me."
The NBA's All-Stars will invade the Staples Center in Los Angeles from February 16-18th. Beal and the rest of the Three-Point Shootout competitors, Skills Challenge contestants and four Slam Dunk Contest participants will take center stage on Saturday, February 17th. As always, the All-Star Game will take place the following night.
