Being placed on the cover of NBA 2K is no small accomplishment. Several NBA legends have graced the cover over the last two decades, including Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant. Although 2K Sports did announce that Lebron James would be on the cover of their Anniversary Edition, the game developer officially unveiled the athlete that will be covering their standard edition.
As part of a live streaming event that took place today, 2K Sports announced that Giannis Antetokounmpo will be the next basketball player to cover NBA 2K. The event was announced as a secret event that took place in a hidden location, but as the stream began it was revealed that the unveiling took place in Athens, Greece, which is Giannis' hometown. Nicknamed "The Greek Freak," Giannis is the first international player to grace the cover.
“Of course my rating should be 99,” he said before changing his statement. “Not 99. 101. Never been done before.” He continued on to reveal that he started off in the game with a rating of 60. "I started being 60. So from 60 to 94, and who knows where it's going to end up, but that's a big difference," he stated proudly. Maybe Skip Bayless was wrong about the best player in the Eastern Conference after all.
