After a relatively slow start to 2017, Miguel is looking to close out the year on high note. After weeks and months of promotion, which include hearing songs like “Sky Walker,” “Told You So,” & “Pineapple Skies” to name a few, Miguel’s highly anticipated 4th studio album, War & Leisure, has finally arrived today.
Laced with 12 tracks in total, the follow up to 2015's WildHeart LP features guest appearances from Travis Scott, J. Cole, Salaam Remi, Rick Ross, Kali Uchis, and more. Meanwhile, production comes from the likes of Happy Perez, Salaam Remi, Detail, Miguel himself & more. You might notice there’s also a Spanish song on the track list as well with “Caramelo Duro,” which translates to “Hard Candy” in English. “I’m really proud of it [Caramelo Duro] -- I only had to change one lyric after I had a couple of people listen to it who know Spanish better than me,” he said laughing.
Speaking on the album in a recent interview with Billboard, Miguel says he’s becoming more politically in-tune with his audience for the upcoming project. "War & Leisure has political undertones, because that’s what life feels like right now," Miguel said. "This album is intentionally about the ethos right now, that we are right in the middle of all this. We’re trying to flourish in the middle of all this. We all wake up, and it’s time to be creative and amazing and positive and all the things that we’re supposed to be when you look on Instagram, but then we’re dealing with these same problems, this injustice, wars between politicians with egos. Like, 140 characters are going to get us into a war right now?”
To coincide with the album, Miguel just announced that he’s taking his talents on the road for a similarly titled tour, which you can peep tour dates for right here if interested.
Available on iTunes, fans can now stream the project in its entirety via Apple Music. Take a listen and let us know what you think!
