In many ways, Young Buck has earned the title of G-Unit's most consistent. He might not have the cult-like following of Lloyd Banks, or the Get Rich-led discography of 50 Cent, but Buck has been steadily putting out quality music for a minute now. Some might even say his best is yet to come, with a project allegedly executive produced by Dr. Dre and 50 Cent in the works. Though the future indeed seems bright for Cashville's finest, so too does the present, what with the release of Buck's 10 Plugs mixtape, which dropped earlier today.
Featuring an appropriate length of ten tracks, Buck sets things off with a bang with "Narcos," a vast sonic departure from Migos' Latin-infused banger of the same name. As is Buck's way, "Narcos" exudes an aura of practiced menace, like the Salamanca cousins in Breaking Bad.
In many instances, an album's introduction serves to set the tone, and Buck wastes little time on "Narcos." Sliding over the menacing production, Buck spits dexterous bars ripe with drug-kingpin imagery. "Only real killers in my photo," raps Buck, before putting forth his finest Spanglish. Thematically, "Narcos" may be familiar territory, but Buck manages to infuse proceedings with a renewed flame.
Quotable Lyrics
I'm bout to run me up a check again
Thank the Lord I just met another Mexican
What it do? I've been paying the price as you
Bitch go do something about it if you don't like it too
