Apparently, being a foul-mouthed mercenary isn't enough for Ryan Reynolds. According to The Hollywood Report, Deadpool himself has signed on to star in a live-action Pokemon movie entitled Detective Pikachu. Reynolds role is rumored to be a motion caption one, so it's possible that he is playing a Pokemon himself (which would be hilarious). Reynolds will star alongside Justice Smith, who you might recognize as Zeke aka MC Books from The Get Down. Smith will also feature in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which hits movie theaters this Summer.
Rob Letterman, who directed family hits such as Shark Tale with Will Smith, Monsters vs. Aliens, and Goosebumps, is set to direct the live-action anime movie. Filming for the Pokemon movie began earlier this year in London. Nicole Perlman, who co-wrote Guardians of the Galaxy alongside James Gunn, wrote the script for Detective Pikachu with Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls).
Pokemon will also have another movie dropping this year, but it will be animated. Entitled Pokemon The Movie: Everyone's Story, the animated film will see a release in Japan this Summer. The popularity of Pokemon is at feverish heights due to Nintendo video games, and the mobile Pokemon GO game the forced kids out of their house.
