Donald Trump's former left-hand man has confessed to laundring millions of dollars overseas to Russia through shell companies, using the money to buy luxury cars, antiques and houses.
Paul Manafort worked alongside one of his longtime associates, Rick Gates, where they acted as unregistered agents for the Government of Ukraine where they garnered more than $18 million dollars, according to the full indictment.
“Manafort used his hidden overseas wealth to enjoy a lavish lifestyle in the United States without paying taxes on that income,” the documents read. “As part of the scheme, Manafort and Gates repeatedly provided false information to financial bookkeepers, tax accountants and legal counsel, among others."
Paul and Rick have been under investigation since May when an investigator was assigned to see if anyone close to the President took part in any Russian Government efforts to influence last year's election. Paul, however, resigned from the campaign back in August 2016, amid the growing rumours regarding cash payments he had received from a Russian campaign party. The documents make no mention of the President having any part in the unlawful funnelling of cash.
Pual and Rick surrendered to the F.B.I on Monday morning (October 30th). Money laundering carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years. Their indictment lists 12 counts, including conspiracy against the U.S. and unregistered agent of a foreign principal.
Donald has taken to Twitter since the news has come forward of his former associates getting busted, where he wonders why light has not been shined on "Crooked Hillary & the Dems."
