Fans have been waiting for West coast icon Nipsey Hussle to deliver his long awaited debut studio album, and now, they may finally receive their wish. A new report from Billboard reveals that Nipsey's Los Angeles based label All Money In have recently linked up for a deal with Atlantic Records (who have been making all manners of moves this year, from Gucci Mane to Bhad Bhabie) in order to make Nipsey's Victory Lap album a forthcoming reality. While the terms of the deal have yet to be revealed, the report confirms the deal is indeed for multiple albums, with the first of which being the aforementioned Victory Lap, dropping in 2018. As it stands, Nipsey will continue to hold control over his All Money In roster.
On the subject of the deal, Nipsey broke down his motivation, saying "the decision really came down to the message I’m trying to get across. I wanted to give that message the best chance to be heard and consumed on the highest level. That was my goal from the jump as All Money In took time to build its position in the hip-hop lane."
Atlantic's Craig Kallman (chairman/CEO) and Julie Greenwald (chairman/COO) released a joint statement about Nipsey's deal, stating "Nipsey is not only an extraordinary MC but a true visionary and innovative entrepreneur. Over the past seven years, he has built an incredible brand that reflects his independent, non-traditional approach to what it means to be a creative artist in the modern music marketplace. We are thrilled and honored that he has chosen Atlantic as his label home.”
As of now, there's no telling exactly when we're due to receive Victory Lap, but both parties seem keen on building a musical empire. Stay tuned for more news on Nipsey, who deserves some congratulations for this big deal.
