Nipsey Hussle has been working feverishly on his long-awaited debut album, Victory Lap, and after years of setbacks & label woes, it finally looks like we’re about to get it. Earlier this week, news surfaced that Nipsey’s All Money In label decided to partner up with Atlantic Records to finally put out the album Victory Lap, and know we know when that’ll be happening. At the stroke of midnight, Nipsey officially kicked off the album campaign for Victory Lap by making it available for pre-orders on iTunes, ultimately revealing its cover art & tracklist in the process.
Dropping February 16th, Victory Lap will contains 16 tracks in total and be lead by the new single "Rap Niggas," which just surfaced online minutes ago as a pre-order leak. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet as for who’s expected to be featured, but at least there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. According to Neighborhood Nip, the album has been done since April, but some legal issues have delayed its release, until now thankfully.
Nipsey had the following to say about his forthcoming album and its vision... "With this album, I wanted to create a music moment. We have like business moments with Crenshaw and marketing moments and like real authentic moments with my early stuff where it was like a real energy that you felt," he said. "But, I want to create a music moment and make a victory lap. I wanted to be in business with music specialists to really make sure that hypothetically, before we started it, that when we pulled it off we'll be in business with or we'll be in a situation that could maximize the value of each record and the value of the album.
In support of the forthcoming album, Nipsey has also announced the “Marathon Book,” which will be an in-depth look into Nipsey’s career through photos by Jorge Peniche and an exclusive forward written by Nipsey himself. The book is available for pre-sale now at iamproud2pay.com.
While we wait for further details on the album to arrive, check out the lead single “Rap Niggas” to hold you over in the meantime and peep the artwork (below). Who's excited to finally hear Victory Lap?
