YoungBoy reflects on a relationship in emotional new single "Love Is Poison."

YoungBoy Never Broke Again, formerly known as NBA Youngboy (though still widely referred to as such), recently announced his upcoming album Until Death Call My Name. Last night, he dropped off a new single from the project called "Love Is Poison," which finds him showcasing a different side of his generally rough-around-the-edges persona. The Cash Money AP laced banger finds NBA in his feelings, lamenting over a relationship gone left; it's a tender bit of thug love, with the usual trappings of a Bonnie-And-Clyde style narrative. Unfortunately, an ominous sense of loss lingers throughout, and YoungBoy gets a chance to show off some storytelling prowess.

"Momma told me that she love to see when we together," raps YoungBoy, "I looked and smiled they ain't tellin' you the fuckin' devil." Overall, it's a powerful piece of writing, and showcases some nuance in the young rapper's pen game. Stay tuned for more news on his upcoming project, set to drop in March.

Quotable Lyrics

I gave my heart to you, you took my shit and ran with it
Momma told me that she love to see when we together
I looked and smiled they ain't tellin' you the fuckin' devil
Don't need no gun cause when I'm with you, you my heavy metal
