Young Thug aka Sex is taking a hiatus, and according to the rapper, it’s because of his brother. In a recent interview with Hypebeast, the rapper revealed that he would not be putting out any new music for the entirety of 2018 in an effort align himself with his deaf brother.
"I've got a deaf brother," he told the publication during a video interview shot alongside girlfriend Jerrika Karlae during New York Fashion Week as they participated in Phillip Plein’s and VFILES runway shows. "I've got a brother who can't hear or talk, so I want to act deaf for a year. So, I ain't going to put out no music this year."
He went on to add, however, that he plans to release that long-awaited HiTunes (stylized as HY!£UN35) debut studio album sometime in 2019. Considering Thug’s extensive catalog, it’s still unfathomable to believe that he technically hasn’t dropped off an official debut. But judging by the delay, one that is quickly approaching the three-year mark, fans should be in for a treat once the Atlanta emcee decides to deliver on it.
"In 2019, I'm going to put out probably Hi-Tunes,” was Thug’s uncertain response to the cameras. For the sake of family, though, we’re in no rush as Young Thug takes the year to execute such a gesture for his brother.
