By now most of you probably forgot that DJ Carnage announced a joint project with Young Thug back in December called Young Martha. Details on the project have been extremely scarce to the say the least since the announcement was first made on Twitter, but back in May we received our first possible hint of an upcoming single when Carnage shared a mysterious clip on Instagram of him, Young Thug & Meek Mill posing for some sort of video shoot. Unfortunately nothing ever came of the record/clip since then, but Carnage decided to change all that earlier this week on Wednesday when he announced on Twitter that the record, called “Homie,” was finally dropping Thursday night at midnight along with the “best video of the year,” and alas here it is right on schedule.
As for the song, it finds Thugger handling the hook with an extremely raspy voice, rapping about walking thru the clubs & poppin’ bottles, before returning back to his normal tone for his verses, and spittin’ bars about having a gangsta bitch by his side. “Gangster bitch with me, she'll spank ya/ Swear to God all I gotta do is point one finger, she'll close range ya,” he spits.
Meanwhile, Meek comes in at the second verse, and delivers his signature aggressive bars rapping about having shooters by his side at all times. “You know it's nothin' but shooter on me/ Them/ niggas know and never movin' on me/ I keep a Mac in the Louis bag,” Meek spits.
Of course, this isn’t the first collaboration between Meek, who is coming off Wins & Losses, and Thug, who is coming off Beautiful Thugger Girls. The two have collaborated on a series of tracks throughout the years, including “Offended,” “Backboard,” “Hundreds,” and most recently “We Ball,” which just saw its official video surface last week.
