It appears we’ve got some more details regarding YNW Melly’s double murder charge. Police told TMZ that the Florida rapper tried staging an elaborate scheme to make it look like his buddies were killed by someone other than him and his pal.
To bring you up to speed, YMW Melly’s friend, Cortlen Henry, drove to a Florida ER back in October, asking for help for his two friends in his car, whom he claimed had been shot in a drive-by. The two friends, Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr., were both pronounced dead at the hospital after being shot in the head, torso and back. Cortlen told police he and his two pals had just wrapped a late night studio session, and as he was pulling off the freeway, a car pulled up on his driver's side and opened fire. Cops confirm there were 8 bullet holes along the right side of the vehicle where Williams and Thomas were sitting, but YNW Melly was lucky enough to get away.
However, the police aren’t buying it and believe the two guys staged the whole "drive-by" and did the shooting themselves. They apparently have the evidence to back it up too.
Cops say they found a shell casing inside the vehicle, along with 8 matching shell casings in a different location, where cops think YNW and Henry shot up the car to make it look like a drive-by. In addition, police say surveillance footage from the recording studio shows YNW, Henry, Williams and Thomas getting in the car to leave. YNW got into the back left seat, which wouldn't make sense or correlate to the “drive-by.”
Cops added that after Williams and Thomas were shot, YNW and Henry drove around with the dead bodies "for a period of time" before eventually driving to the hospital. YNW Melly decided to get out of the car and jump in another vehicle before Henry went to the hospital, however.
As we reported last week, YNW and Henry have been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. We’ll continue to keep you posted on any further developments moving forward.
