There were polarizing reactions to XXXTENTACION's death. While many people were mourning, there was a good chunk of people on the internet who were either celebrating or didn't necessarily care due the charges laid against him prior to his death. Throughout his short-lived career, the rapper's legal trouble loomed over him although he attempted to shed that through charity work and his #HelpingHand challenge. In wake of his death, his domestic violence case has been dropped.
According to TMZ, XXXTENTACION's charges in the domestic violence case have been dropped. There was a court hearing for the trial earlier this week and they decided to drop the charges due to the rapper's untimely murder. He was accused of abusing his ex-girlfriend Geneva Ayala while she was pregnant with their child. He was also facing charges for witness tampering because prosecutors believed he pressured Ayala into not testifying against him. Those are are also expected to be dropped.
Geneva Ayala expressed how devastated she was after X's death. She also slammed Twitter users who were seemingly speaking on her behalf.
"it’s disgusting that people are speaking for me. i don’t care if no one cared about me however many months ago, i didn’t lose my life. he did. it’s permanent. i’m still here. like how do you think that makes me feel? everyone expecting me to be relieved or happy?! no, i’m broken." She wrote.
Ayala also claimed that the items she left at XXXTENTACION's vigil were burned by his fans.
