XXXTentacion has been making noise for a minute now. After establishing himself as a brash, aggressive Soundcloud rapper, X switched it up and delivered his debut album 17, a morose, melodic reflection on the anguish of depression and mental health issues. While many were pleasantly surprised by the young rapper's versatility and courageous handling of a touchy subject, the dark cloud of X's impending legal trials still loomed overhead. Despite the controversial artist's rising fame, the rapper is still heading to trial over charges he caught last October, including "aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness-tampering." X has pleaded not guilty, and the trial is set to begin on October 5th.
However, some gruesome information has since emerged, which details some of XXXTENTACION's alleged abusive behavior. Pitchfork has obtained a lengthy transcription of the victim's testimony. The testimony originally occurred in January, where the victim spoke about the recurring abusive she was reportedly subjected to by the rapper. At the beginning, the report reveals that X and the victim first met online, which ultimately led to X inviting her to move in with him. She agreed, and left her ex-boyfriend's house to move in with X.
According to the report, the first instance of abusive behavior occurred two weeks into the new living arrangements. Apparently, X slapped the victim and broke her Iphone. Afterward, the rapper brought out "a “barbecue pitchfork” and a “barbecue cleaner,” and told her to choose which one she wanted "in her vagina." Despite the gruesome nature of the offer, the woman allegedly chose the fork, and fell asleep with X "lightly dragging the tool across her inner thigh." Thankfully, there was no penetration.
After that incident, they ended up moving to Orlando in July 2016. Apparently, the victim was asked how many times X threatened to kill her during that period. She responded with “Well, when we lived in Orlando, it was literally like every day.” The deposition also reveals an incident in which X and the woman were riding in a car together, listening to one of his songs. When she began humming the verse of a featured artist, X reportedly began acting sullen, which culminated in a violent outburst at their Orlando home. After confronting her about the perceived betrayal, X was said to have "head-butted her, punched her, stomped on her, and put her in the bathtub, where he continued hitting and kicking her," along with threatening to have her tongue cut out for the transgression. When she tried to escape, he apparently tackled her to the pavement, resulting in facial injuries and bruises.
There are also reports that X would break hangers against her leg, attempt to cut her hair, and held her head under bath water. When X was arrested in August 2016 on charges of home invasion, robbery, and aggravated battery with a firearm, the woman ended up living with one of X's friends. During this time period, she allegedly slept with another man - one of X's friends. When the rapper got out of prison, they ended up moving back in together. X claimed to have known about the "affair," and threatened to "fuck her up" with a beer bottle if she didn't confess the entire story. After she apparently told him everything, he ended up dropping the bottle and slapping her around before allowing her to return to bed.
As tension grew and the physical abuse increased, the woman began fearing that X would snap, stating in the testimony "it’s like he’s going to like end up killing me or something." However, the situation got even more complicated when the woman discovered she was pregnant in October 2016, a pregnancy that her and X apparently both planned. According to the document, on October 6th X called up the man with whom she had an affair, and attempted to get the full story. When he returned, X told the woman “You need to tell me the truth right now or I’ll kill you and this jit" (the woman clarified that "jit" referred to the baby). The exchange culminated in yet another physical assault, in which the woman was beaten to the point of near-unconsciousness. When recounting the event, the victim claims her face looked "distorted" after the incident, with her left eye "completely shut and leaking blood."
Afterward, the report states that X didn't allow her to leave the house until her face healed, confiscating her phone and locking her in a bathroom. Days later, when he was playing Minecraft and Skyping, the woman escaped through a side door and ran. As she didn't have any money, she asked a random person for their phone and reached out to her ex-boyfriend. His mother came and picked her up, and drove her to the police station where she filed the report.
Pitchfork's report concludes with a confirmation that they received copies of the transcription from the ex-boyfriend and his mother, along with Miami police Sgt. Amel Soto. The transcriptions apparently backed up the majority of the victim's testimony.
As you can see, it's truly a disturbing read, especially if the allegations are indeed accurate. For now, XXXTentacion is scheduled to go on trial October 5th, where the truth will hopefully come to light.
