The past few weeks have been eventful for XXXTENTACION for numerous reasons. It was recently revealed that he penned a $6 million record deal with Capitol Records. Shortly after, he said that he'd be terminating his contract with them and later added that he'd be retiring from music overall. After previewing new music and Capitol confirming that he's still signed to their label, it looks like he'll be coming back with some new music really soon.
XXXTENTACION took to his Instagram story to announce that his new album, Bad Vibes Forever, would be coming really soon.
"Bad vibes forever coming soon," he wrote, "It will be a mix of all genres you have seen me dabble with, if you are not a fan of me this is not an album for you, it is for core fans only."
Despite the controversy that constantly surrounds his name, the rapper's proved his sonic versatility. While 17 emphasized on a more emo tip, he broke out into the mainstream with the success of "Look At Me," which was a complete different sound than his debut album. He's been previewing some of his more experimental work as well as some acoustic stuff. It'll be interesting to see how his upcoming album ends up sounding like.
After saying he'd retire from music, he later went on Instagram to say that he'd make his comeback if Ski Mask The Slump God would be his friend again. The two of them were very close while coming up but as both their careers bubbled into something bigger, Ski Mask admitted that he needed to be distant from him publicly in order to establish himself as an individual rapper. However, he ended up revealing that the real reason they had a falling out was because X allegedly threatened his family at one point and even told him that he was supposed to be sacrificed.
