There are some actors that are so well-known, that it's hard to see them as anything but themselves. Will Smith is one of those actors and for the new live-action reboot of Aladdin he's being kitted up for the role of Genie, but he still looks like Will Smith:
Back in the original animated version, Genie was played by Robin Williams who, according to Smith, fleshed out the part so fully that it's been hard to find his own Genie. He told Entertainment Weekly "Robin didn’t leave a lot of meat on the bone with the character." However, the Fresh Prince will be bringing his very own, very personal one-hundred percent to the role: “I started to feel confident that I could deliver something that was an homage to Robin Williams but was musically different,” he said. “Just the flavour of the character would be different enough and unique enough that it would be in a different lane, versus trying to compete.”
The film will be directed by Guy Ritchie who, in the past, has basically been known for invented his own genre of slick, fast-talking and heavily plotted British crime dramas may actually be perfect for Aladdin, if you just imagine the intro from his first movie, Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, put into the context of a market in Aladdin:
