TMZ reports that Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48. A rep for the singer told Associated Press that she passed away this afternoon.
Houston won two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards during her record-breaking career. Her debut album "Whitney Houston" was the first female album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts. It has sold over 25 million copies worldwide.

UPDATE: Details are still emerging but it seems she was found unresponsive in her room on the fifth floor of the Beverly Hills hotel, although the cause of her death is still unknown, sources have ruled out foul play. She was pronounced dead at 3:55 pm PST. The Grammy Awards, which she was supposed to attend tonight, reportedly have already included a tribute to the singer.
