Vince Staples is at once hilarious, talented, and insightful. The problem is, you can never tell whether he's being serious, even when he's making some seemingly sincere statements. Vince's online antics have led to some classic moments, like the time his Reddit AMA led to some notoriously "bad" answers, or when he recently called Eminem's cypher "trash and subsequently drew the ire of a Stan army. Still, the Big Fish Theory rapper has constantly managed to keep his name in the headlines, and if his latest antics are indeed genuine, then perhaps horror fans might have something new to look forward to.
Vince took to Twitter to announce his desire to direct the upcoming season of FX's American Horror Story, an anthology series that has followed cultists, carnivals, haunted hotels, asylum patients, covens, and more. Vince has clearly been binging the show, as he tagged both FX' and American Horror Story's official Twitter accounts to announce his ambitious intent.
"FX should let me direct the next season of AHS I got this idea about a blackout in the projects," writes Staples. "African American Horror Story @FXNetworks @AHSFX let’s talk numbers." Unfortunately, Vince doesn't give us much to work with, but anyone with an imagination can see that Vince's basic premise has a wealth of potential. Especially if he incorporates some hip-hop culture; hip-hop movies are dope, and horror movies are dope, so what could go wrong, really?
While horror fans would no doubt love the idea of Vince Staples helming his own series, it should be taken with a grain of salt. After all, Vince is a notorious troll, and American Horror Story's is pretty damn white. Despite that, if Vince is looking to enter the Hollywood game, now's a great time to do so, what with the whole "cleansing of the guard" going on out there.
