The Midwest is going through some seriously cold temperatures right now with a polar vortex that's making the city the coldest it's been since 1985. Those who can afford a warm jacket, hat, and gloves are probably safe to make it through, but for those who don't have a home, the life-threating temperatures pose a big risk.
Chicago's very own, Vic Mensa, is teaming up with his Save Money Save Life Foundation as well as Healthy Hood Chicago to round up winter essentials for those less fortuante.
“Chicago, as you know, it’s cold as fuck right now what you may not be thinking about is those without a roof over their head to protect them from this weather," he said, as seen in the video below.
"As the temperature drops to beneath 30 degrees in the next two days, people will die. My foundation is taking donations that are going to be used to feed 50 people three meals a day for the next two days while the weather is at its worse. Please, if you have the resources to we are accepting sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, food, and money. We have Venmo. If you have the possibility to, we need this help.”
