Weeks after its release, Sony's Venom is still raking in cash the way most people are raking in leaves at this time of year. It has officially crossed the $500 million mark, which is something not many movies have ever done and the ones that have rarely do it this fast (Venom reached the mark faster than Titanic).
After being number one at the box office for two weeks straight, Venom dropped to number three and has stayed there for two weeks, but Sony and Columbia certainly aren't grumbling about chart position when they've got half a billion dollars in the bag.
Although the movie was almost universally panned by critics and left some wishing that Sony no longer had any of the rights to the Spider-Man universe, fans were at least curious enough to go and see it. The films success could also be due (at least in part) to some clever inclusions on the soundtrack, including Eminem's aptly named "Venom" and Run The Jewels' "Let's Go (The Royal We)" (Eminem is also executive producing a soundtrack for the upcoming Bodied)
