Listen to Tyler The Creator as he explains why he should win the "Best Rap Album" Grammy for "Flower Boy."

Not long after he sat down with comedian Jerrod Carmichael for an hour-long conversation, where he broke down his latest album Scum Fuck Flower Boy, Tyler The Creator decided to make his way by The Shane Show with host Shane Powers recently for another in-depth interview.

While talking about his Grammy nomination for “Best Rap Album,” (around the 50:50 mark) Tyler said he believes he should win this year’s category over fellow nominees Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Migos, and Rapsody.

“Yes. I think I should win.” Tyler said when asked. “Something different needs to win. I love Jay, but fuck dude. You have Grammys, dog. And I love Kendrick, and I think Damn was awesome. 'XXX' was my favorite song on that album. But fuck, nigga nominated for six other ones. Let him get one of those."

Tyler later added, "I think it would be tight if I won, just because it's something different. And there's no one speaking for those people. I don't even want to use the word weird, because I feel like that's a cheap word—or eclectic. But [this is for] the 'me's'. We're rarely up there. I know if I win something, they'll feel like they won something.”

In addition to the Grammy talk, Tyler also addressed his relationship with SpaceX founder Elon Musk, trying drugs, favorite Flower Boy song ("Sometimes"), working on a new stage design for his tour, and a lot more.

If you have the time, suggest listening to the full hour & a half conversation (below). Otherwise fast forward to the 50:50 mark to hear Tyler speak about wanting to win a Grammy.
