Woods to receive Presidential Medal of Freedom after winning his fifth green jacket.

Tiger Woods won The Masters for the first time since 2005, and fifth time overall, on Sunday afternoon as he now sits just three career major titles behind all-time leader Jack Nicklaus.

Tiger received an outpouring of support immediately after capturing the green jacket, which included congratulatory messages from Serena Williams and Kobe Bryant, as well as a sneaker tribute from Chris Paul.

The praise continued on Monday, as President Trump took to twitter moments ago to announce, "Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday’s @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!"

The Presidential Medal of Freedom (along with the Congressional Gold Medal) is the highest award that can be awarded to a civilian in the United States. The Medal "recognizes those individuals who have made 'an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.'"

Previous recipients include Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Diana Ross, Ellen DeGeneres and Robert De Niro.
