Tory Lanez sheds light on the Nicki-mentioning lyrics found within "Happiness x Tell Me," off his new album "Memories Don't Lie."

Depending how deep you've got into Tory Lanez's sophomore opus yet, Memories Don't Die, you may have stumbled across a line that mentions "Nicki." In fact, depending how close you're listening, you may have come across many a line, name-dropping many a rap or r'n'b colleague.

"Happiness x Tell Me" helps close out the album at track #17, starting with a slow piano build, giving off laid-back jazz club vibes, before transitioning (a key factor of this album, Tory shifts his focus from skits to transitions, as we discuss in the full interview, right below) into something a bit more urgent, a bit more rap-laden. Alongside that sense of urgency, we get an interesting tidbit of information: "I may have fucked it up with Nicki right before this album." This, alongside the rest of the song's lyrics, acts as an earnest reflection from Tory Lanez, pairing very nicely with the production's intensity.

What's it all mean though??

In our in-depth sit-down about the album, Tory explains, "I was talking about Nicki Minaj, she was on "Shooters" originally. She was on the record first, and I was telling her something about the verse, I wasn't saying it was bad or anything, her verse was incredible, and I'm also like a super-Nicki fan. But I was telling her something, and it may have came off.. Cause I was texting her, and it may have came off in a different way, she probably read it in a different way than I said it."

Tory continues, "I think it maybe kinda came off a little bit arrogant, or I kinda said something I shouldn't have said about her verse, and she was like, "well, n*gga, it's not that serious, take my verse off the thing.' We was like, aight. I love Nicki Minaj when it comes down to her music and the whole thing, but I'm not a reacher. Once a n*gga says it's quiet, it's quiet...Maybe in the future when the time is right, we'll do something that's right, that we both feel comfortable with."
