Tory Lanez has been on quite the journey over the course of the past year or so. His 2016 album I Told You, a release that catapulted him to superstardom on the backs of singles like "Say It" and "LUV," was one of the high points of last year's hip-hop calendar. However, things got murky as winter turned into spring, when Lanez was arrested on drug and gun charges in April. As it turns out, the day of his arrest bears a lot more personal significance than anybody may have originally thought.
Lanez sat down with HNHH for an exclusive interview that touched on a variety of topics, including the fact that the day he was booked actually coincided with the birth of his son. "What's special about him [and] what a lot of people don't know [is that] the day my son was born was the day I got locked," explained Lanez. "April 12th. I was coming out of the hospital, I was leaving the parking lot, I didn’t even get out of the parking lot [...] But that’s something special about the day he was born. I'll always remember it."
When we asked him if he was still on good terms with the boy's baby mama, his response was a uniformly positive one. "Yeah, I'm on good terms with every girl who’s ever been in my life," he said. "But my baby moms I'm never on no bad terms. I'm not one of those child support ... you know, situations. We've got a good understanding of what's going on."
Since word that his upcoming album was done began circulating at the beginning of August, hip-hop fans the world over have been anxiously waiting for the next full-length helping of music from Lanez. In terms of his public appearances leading up to the LP's release, he's already off to a good start, performing alongside the likes of Drake, The Weeknd, Cardi B and Travis Scott at this year's OVO Fest. With a new addition to his family in tow, 2017 could be ending on a very high note for Tory Lanez.
