Tom Cruise starred in two Jack Reacher movies, and both did well at the box office. The film follows Reacher, who is a veteran that embarks on action-packed adventures. The movies are based on a series of novels written by Lee Child. In the novels, Reacher is described as a large man whose physical size makes others uncomfortable. He is placed at 6'5 tall, with hands the size of large plates. While Cruise is adept at fighting enemies on screen, he certainly isn't a large man. The veteran actor is allegedly 5'7, which is two inches shorter than the average height of an American male.
Child recently spoke with BBC Radio, and stated that, "Cruise, for all his talent, didn't have that physicality." With that in mind, he will not be recruited for a reboot of the series that will come in television series form. "I really enjoyed working with Cruise," he continued. "He's a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun. But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it's a big component of who he is. The idea is that when Reacher walks into a room, you're all a little nervous just for that first minute. And Cruise, for all his talent, didn't have that physicality."
