Earlier this month, Tina Turner's first son committed suicide by shooting himself. Craig Turner was 59 when he passed away, and Tina birthed her eldest child when she was only 18. His father was saxophonist Raymond Hill, who performed with Ike Turner’s band Kings of Rhythm. When Tina and Ike got married in the early 60's, Ike adopted Craig as his own.
Tina took to Twitter to post a heartfelt message about her son. The post features a picture of the powerhouse singer dropping a rose into the ocean. "My saddest moment as a mother. On Thursday, July 19 2018, I said my final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner, when I gathered with family and friends to scatter his ashes off the coast of California," she wrote. "He was fifty-nine when he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby." Tina returned to America for the ceremony. She famously relinquished her American citizenship five years ago, and has lived in Europe for over twenty years with her German record producer husband Erwin Bach. Craig's suicide is just one of many tragic stories, and if you or anyone you know is suffering from depression, please seek help. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number is 1-800-273-8255.
