With the Black Lives Matter movement being a general topic of discussion for the last few years, many powerful black personalities claim to be targeted because of the color of their skin. On nearly a daily basis, people of color are wrongfully arrested based on suspicion alone. Early this morning, it was reported that T.I. had been detained for disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and assault. Although the rapper was released in time to make it to his son Major's birthday party, he almost was not in attendance and believes that once the facts are out on the arrest, the charges will be dropped.
Tip's attorney released a statement today claiming, "Tip was wrongfully arrested early this morning when he attempted to gain entrance into his gated community - where his wife “Tiny” and his family reside." Lawyer Steve Sadow goes on to give details of the incident, saying that the security guard was asleep when T.I. pulled up to the gate with Tip respectfully calling him out on this. The situation turned into a heated debate and police did not want to hear Tip's side of the story. In a statement released to The Blast, Tip says that he believes he was locked up simply for being an affluent black celebrity in a white neighborhood, declaring that the law enforcement near his home is "white cops in a very white area."
Further details are bound to become available on the "Whatever You Like" rapper's arrest and we will continue to update you on the case.
