If you're a creative in Toronto and you've been dry on resources recently, The Weeknd's creative director and high school friend La Mar Taylor has you covered. One of the most disappointing things in the world is wasted talent and a lack of accessibility can be just as damaging as a lack of drive at times, which is precisely the reason Taylor decided to create a brand new facility for people to work as a collective to make the most of their ability.
Founding Hxouse with the help of his XO family, La Mar Taylor notes that he has been frustrated by the "lack of infrastructure" for himself and other creative entrepreneurs in Canada, coming up with the idea to launch his own space to help those just like him. Opening in the fall, Hxouse will feature state-of-the-art facilities, open to Canadian creatives in Toronto. Describing the project, Taylor writes, "The facility offers co-working spaces as well as Textiles and Fashion Studio, Fine Metals and Jewellery Studio, Electronics and Hardware Studio, Woodworking Studio, Digital Fabrication Studio, Computer lab, Sound Recording Studio, Motion Capture & Sound Recording Studio, Edit Booths and Photography Studio."
The Weeknd shared the news on his Instagram page, adding a house emoji in reference to the project's name. Opening up in the fall, Hxouse is set to be the first establishment of its kind in the city. Close to home, you may even spot Abel working on music at the facilities if you get lucky...
