Tekashi 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj linked up to attend some New York Fashion week events together. This could have been a simple outing amongst collaborators, but it ultimately became a statement: 69 rocks with Nicki, over his fellow Latinx artist on a quick rise to fame, Cardi B.
The young New York native made it clear and confirmed his loyalty unabashedly to the cameras that were trailing him and his "FEFE" collaborator. When he was asked if he was on "team Nicki," Tekashi didn't miss a single beat with his response: "Team f*cking Nicki, you know that."
The rapper also took to his own platform to make sure his fans were aware of his pledge. He uploaded a short clip of himself and the female emcee. He introduces Minaj, gassing her up.
"Yo, I'm with the f*cking queen herself. The only queen."
These statements come after Tekashi was caught turning up to Cardi B's breakout song, "Bodak Yellow." The DJ spinning that night had been playing a "FEFE" before cutting it off and claiming, "I'm Sorry, Nicki. I'm Team Cardi B." When Cardi's beat dropped, Tekashi simply kept bumping.
Social media users had warned him that his actions might cause some serious flack. His latest public appearance is likely an effort to remediate the situation.
