Tekashi 6ix9ine has been heating up this week for the wrong reasons, and it has nothing to do with his music. The colorful rapper seems to lean towards one color in particular: red. While 6ix9ine's hair color is an eternal rainbow, the rapper has been known to rock red bandanas and throw up "B" signs with his digits. The Brooklynite was stirring waters early this week as he was slated to perform several shows at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles during NBA All-Star Weekend when the venue canceled all of the performances. Earlier in the week, Tekashi publicly said that he does not check in with rival gangs anywhere, and LA crips were not amused by the statement.
The shows were likely canceled to prevent any gang activities from taking place in the audience and putting anybody's lives in danger. Tekashi posted to his Instagram page, insisting that he and his Scum Gang crew were not responsible for canceling the shows. 6ix9ine claims that he will still be in Los Angeles for All-Star Weekend, regardless of the canceled performances.
The rapper is currently gearing up to release his debut mixtape Day69 on February 23. Rappers have tried to coordinate street life and music in the past and, almost always without fail, gang life interferes in negative ways. We'll wait to see if any drama pops off this weekend as controversy seems to follow Tekashi everywhere he goes.
