How much do you love your favorite artist? Enough to steal a plane to fly to their concert? We didn't think so. One young man in Arkansas thought it would be a good idea to steal a plane and fly to Chicago to see a Famous Dex show last Summer, but things didn't work out for him very well. According to Daily Mail, 18-year-old Arkansas resident Zemarcuis Scott was sentenced to five years of felony probation after trying to steal an American Eagle twin-engine jet to see Dex on July 4, 2018. Scott began watching the plane around 10 PM on July 3. He threw his bicycle in a ditch and jumped a fence to get to the jet around 2.30 AM on July 4.
Scott told authorities at the time of the arrest that he had no pilot training, but he thought he would only need to pull some levers and push some buttons to operate the plane. It seems like Scott has been playing too many console video games and not enough flight simulator computer programs. Scott pleaded guilty to attempted theft of property and commercial burglary. He will have to cough up a $1,000 fine in addition to court costs. Scott is also required to engage in any mental health treatment deemed necessary by the probation department. He has been banned from Texarkana Regional Airport while his probation is ongoing.
