This morning, DJ Khaled finally emerged from the shadows to release his awaited Father Of Asahd album, which comes complete with a carefully crafted video itinerary. The producer promises a slew of new visuals coming over the next couple of days, which started with the midnight release of the powerful Nipsey Hussle and John Legend collab "Higher." Next on the course, is the video for the SZA-featuring "Just Us," which is directed by Joseph Kahn.
Khaled teased the SZA collab to come back in April on SZA's Instagram, "I've waited for this man to scream over my voice for 15yrs," SZA captioned the video. "HE DA BEST!"
Khaled explained his confidence surrounding his new album in a new interview with XXL, saying that he had warned radio early on that he had multiple hits in the bag. "So, I told radio, 'Yo, I got seven singles. I'm just being honest. I got seven singles. I'ma let you know how the Khaled year is going to sound out of the gate. We can go with these two first and when they go No. 1, we can swap them out, boom. But I wanted you to know I got seven. And there’s nothing you can do about it,'" he said. "So, I'm preparing radio. I'm preparing everybody that there's nothing you can do about it; it's just going to be rockets."
The video does indeed look like it's going to be a major hit. The catchy beat and SZA's powerful vocals provide a perfect canvas for a strong video, which the two certainly deliver. The plot of the story follows the pair as gladiator warriors (major 300 vibes), battling together and coming out triumphant, before celebrating in a ceremony atop golden elephants - with DJ Khaled's trusty cigar in hand throughout.
